go to sleep!

Elections can bring lots of stress, and I’m definitely feeling the election day jitters. I’m going to solve my election anxiety the way I solve all anxiety: sleeping!

When we left kindergarten, we were led to believe that naps would become a thing of the past. Without a school sanctioned nap time, how could we ever find a time to sleep in the middle of day?

Well, I found time. I have been a consistent napper since birth. Seriously. When we stopped having naps during the school day, I quickly realized I could sleep after school. I kept that habit until I entered college, where I would nap in between classes.

Napping has become an honest form of self soothing for me. All my friends know that if it’s the middle of the day, and I’m not texting you back, I’m probably taking a nap. In fact, I was napping before I woke up to write this very post!

While I do believe that the freedom to nap is a God-given right, I also understand that it’s not a right we can all execute. However, it is so, so important to have a safe way to quell any nerves we might feel tonight! Maybe go for a run, read a book, do a craft, call a friend. Elections can feel consuming, and for the sake of our mental health, it’s crucial to take a step back.

If you have the ability to vote and haven’t taken advantage of it yet, please do! Voting is the easiest way to serve our country. When you get back from the polls, treat yourself a little bit!

love you always!
